The safety of all participants and volunteers is paramount. In the event of inclement weather (lightning, severe winds/rain, ice, course flooding), the race committee reserves the right to postpone the event up to one hour, reduce the event length or, if necessary, cancel the event. Every effort will be made to start the event.
If it is determined that weather or course conditions cause a safety risk, the race committee may decide to delay the start of the event up to one hour* and/or reduce the course length. If by 9 a.m. weather conditions have not resolved, the race committee may opt to reduce the course length or cancel the event.
Weather decisions will be made onsite during the morning of the event, and announcements will be made via loudspeaker to participants (not on the race website or via email). In the event any such changes are made before approximately 7:00 a.m. on race morning, information about the changes will be posted promptly and prominently at www.richlandcreekrun.com.
If the event is started and severe weather arises while participants are on the course, course marshals and traffic safety personnel will be notified via cell phone and radio to immediately clear the course of race participants, volunteers, and spectators and direct all to the Cohn School or the nearest shelter.
The organizing entity, Greenways for Nashville, has a no-refund policy. GFN incurs many expenses for this fundraising event regardless of whether or not the race transpires. Door prizes will be awarded in the Cohn School auditorium regardless.
* The duration of permitted road closures, park usage, and contracted police officers’ shifts are fixed and limited, requiring that the event be concluded and roads re-opened by 11 a.m.
